Nothing like Having a Bath and Sitting by the Fire after Satoyama Cycling

After Hinoichi Satoyama cycling, I had a bath and afterward, sat by the fire, with wine of course.

It is a hygge moment, and hence one of my Ikigais.

We used our wood-burning stove for the first time this year.

One great thing in Japan is the custom of having a bath. Having a bath warms up your body from inside and out. I think it has the same effect as sauna, which is recognized as one of the customs of longevity by David Sinclair, the author of Lifespan. I personally believe that having a bath every day is one of the causes of Japanese long life. Hot water releases our muscle tension and it creates a good balance of the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system if you have a bath after working out.

Sitting by the fire after a bath doubles the effect of relaxation. It is the best thing to do in the wintertime.
