Have you heard of the Natto Belt? This region is where natto consumption is prevalent, extending from Tohoku to North Kanto. Prefectures like Akita, Iwate, Fukushima, and Ibaraki are famous for their natto consumption. However, interestingly, many of these places are near the bottom of the average life expectancy rankings by prefecture. You know the ranking I’ve previously shared in my other video, where Shiga took the lead.

 

So, why is it that these natto-consuming regions aren’t forming Japanese Blue Zones? I explore this enigma in today’s video.
