Sachiaki Takamiya

My name is Sachiaki Takamiya. I am a writer and sustainable life coach. As a writer, I have written many books. My best-known work is a spiritual adventure novel called Tenjo-no-Symphony which was published in Japanese from Kodansha in 2006. In English, I have written books called Zen and a Way of Sustainable Prosperity, IKIGAI BUSINESS, and IKIGAI DIET.

I live in a small rural town called Hino Town in Shiga Prefecture Japan, where I lead a sustainable lifestyle; I grow vegetables using organic farming and natural farming, make fermented foods such as miso and natto, have a network of friends who live sustainably in Hino Town, Shiga Prefecture, and all over Japan.

I studied Kawaguchi Style Natural Farming at Marugasaki Natural Farming Group for 2 years, and I have met many people who practice natural farming, organic farming, are involved in ecovillages, and transition towns since I have written novels dealing with these topics.

I lived in England in my early 20s where I studied Shiatsu and macrobiotics at British School of Shiatsu, studied different kinds of psychotherapies at Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, and School of Hypnosis and Advanced Psychotherapy. I was fully involved in holistic movement there including visiting Findhorn.

I created a new diet called Ikigai Diet based on traditional Japanese natural health culture seen in macrobiotics, natural farming, natural medicine, and ancient martial arts with modern understanding of health and wellness. Having spent my early 20s in England, I feel I can contribute a lot to help the health of European people. My mission now is to spread Ikigai Diet to the Western countries so that I can support the microbiota of many people.

Ikigai Diet Life is a way to help you stay young and healthy to enjoy your 100 year life

Hi my name is Sachiaki Takamiya. I am in my late 50s but haven’t had any problems at my yearly check ups so far.

I am a writer and the founder of Ikigai Diet. Ikigai Diet is a diet modeling the diet of the healthiest people in Japan, which is considered to be a country with the longest life expectancy.

In this blog, I am covering topics such as fermented food, organic food, vegetarian diet, vegan diet, and macrobiotic diet to help you stay healthy. Ikigai Diet goes beyond just eating; how you produce food is vital, so I also deal with organic farming, biodynamic farming, and natural farming. Since it is a way of health and happiness, I am writing about lifestyles in general; exercises, living environment, relationships with your family and friends, work-life balance, and your values and spirituality. I am especially introducing current Japanese trends in health and well-being which are not shared so much abroad since many books and magazine articles dealing with these topics are not written in English.
