Transition Town Totnes the Birthplace of the Transition Movement

Now for a lot of people, Totnes in Devon, the U.K. is famous for the transition movement, although it had already been a hub of alternative people and Bohemian culture for many years before the transition initiative started. When I visited Totnes in 1986, I remember it being one of the happening places, and meeting many people who were eating organic food and practicing alternative healings.

Most people in Japan know of Totnes through the transition movement which was brought to Japan in 2008 and transition initiatives are now spread to over 40 or 50 communities.

While I was staying in Dartington, I had an opportunity to interview Jay Tompt from the Reconomy Project which is part of Transition Town Totnes.

Let’s hear what he has to say about Transition Town Totnes.
