When I heard about the Age of Air, I first thought of the Age of Aquarius, simply because that was what had always been talked about. In fact, some advocates of the air age have used the word the Age of Aquarius. For several months, I thought they were talking about the same thing. However, as I got to know more about the Age of Air, I found out that they were talking about something different.
So how are these two different?
I don’t know if you have ever heard of the Age of Aquarius or the Aquarian Age, but if you are as old as I am, in your 50’s( soon I’ll have to change to 60’s-haha), you must have heard of NewAge. We used to call holistic and spiritual things such as yoga, astrology, meditation, and crystal NewAge. The word died out somewhere around the early 1990s, but the whole concept of NewAge was that we were entering the Age of Aquarius. The new age meant the aquarian age. The concept was already popular back in the 1960s, among hippies, and that’s why the famous song The Age of Aquarius appears in the musical Hair( it was made into a movie in the 1970s). The concept of the Aquarian Age became popular again in the early 1980s when a book called The Aquarian Conspiracy by Marilyn Ferguson was published. That was when I first heard about the NewAge movement.
So what is the Aquarian Age? It is also an astrological concept that we shift from one age to the next every 2000 years or so. According to astrologers, since the birth of Christ, we have been in the Age of Pieces, but we are now entering the next age that is the Age of Aquarius, hence the new age. Nobody knows exactly when we have entered the new age or will enter it, somewhere between 2000 years and 2160 years after the birth of Christ.
In 1999, many people thought we were going to enter the Aquarian Age the year after. In 2012, famous for the Mayan calendar, many also believed that we were entering the new age. And yet, I haven’t seen a great change yet and it means maybe we haven’t entered it yet, or the whole idea is nonsense.
But are we finally entering the new age with the great conjunction in 2020? Now things are changing greatly and it is happening on a global scale. The Coronavirus pandemic made many people take this idea seriously.
And yet, it doesn’t mean we have entered the Aquarian Age. The Age of Air is different from the Age of Aquarius as we know it. It is another astrological concept that we shift from one age to the next every 200 years or so. Instead of going around the 12 zodiac signs, it revolves around four elements that each zodiac sign belongs to. The great conjunction, which occurs once every 20 years, has been occurring at earth signs such as Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo in the last 200 years, and therefore, it was called the Age of Earth, but from now on, it will be occurring at air signs such as Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini in the next 200 years starting at the great conjunction on December 21st or 22nd 2020. Therefore, it is called the Age of Air.
I am not an astrologer, and I don’t know much about the zodiac and how it all works, so forgive me but that is all I can say.
We are entering the new 200-year cycle and not the new 2000-year cycle. We are entering the Age of Air, not the Age of Aquarius. Having said that the great conjunction at the end of last year occurred at Aquarius, and therefore we will have a strong influence from Aquarius for the next 20 years. That is why some people say that we are entering the Age of Aquarius. I don’t know what comes in 2040, but it will be an air sign, and we will continue to have influences from air signs for the next 200 years if not from Aquarius. The qualities of Libra and Gemini are different from that of Aquarius but they are somewhat similar being the same air signs.
If the Age of Air continues for 200 years, that means it will continue until 2221. Well, it is over 2160 years after the birth of Christ, isn’t it? Does it mean we are going to enter the Age of Aquarius during the Age of Air?
