Working in a Forest can be an Ikigai Exercise

In the book The Ikigai Diet, I included a chapter on Ikigai Exercise, which is about exercises we can do for our wellbeing and longevity. Working in a forest can be such an exercise. It is part of Move Naturally. In Japanese Satoyama, both centenarians and young naturalists are constantly on the move, doing some kind of chore.

It is nice to be in the forest, we can do Shinrinyoku while working. Mountain climbing is one of the ways to combine Shinrinyoku and exercise, and working in a forest is another way.

My son tried cutting some firewood.

It is a good educational time, too. I need him this winter to cut a lot of firewood-haha.
